WrestleMania at MetLife Stadium will bring $62M to area

Bringing WrestleMania to MetLife Stadium in 2013 is expected to generate more than $62 million in revenues for the New York City area and northern New Jersey suburbs.

WWE senior vice president John Saboor says the weeklong wrestling extravaganza should attract about 120,000 fans, with 80,000 expected to attend WrestleMania on April 7. The other 40,000 will take part in ancillary events such as a four-day fan festival, the WWE’s annual Hall of Fame Induction ceremony, parties and a WWE “Raw” event.

Wrestling executive say the events would be held in New York City and New Jersey.

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie formally announced Thursday that WrestleMania 29 would held at the Stadium, which is co-owned by the NFL’s Giants and Jets.
