Cannon quitting daily NY radio show

Nick Cannon is giving up his New York radio show due to recent health issues.

Cannon, 31, was hospitalized early last month for mild kidney failure and underwent surgery. He also said he was admitted to the hospital last week for two blood clots in his lung.

“Under doctor’s orders, I have been asked to make my health first and cut back on some of my professional commitments … ” Cannon said in a statement.

“It has been an absolute pleasure working with CBS Radio and the 92.3 NOW morning show team and I would like to thank them for their unwavering support.”

The multi-hyphenate Cannon, who’s married to pop superstar Mariah Carey, has been hosting his daily show from 6 to 10 a.m. on 92.3 FM (WXRK) since January 2010.

He will continue hosting his syndicated weekend show, “Cannon’s Countdown,” and will also continue hosting NBC’s “America’s Got Talent,” which is moving to New York this season to accommodate new judge Howard Stern.
