Man shoots pregnant wife in chest outside B’klyn school

Gunfire erupted outside a Brooklyn elementary school today as a man crazed by a domestic dispute shot his pregnant wife, cops and witnesses said.

The victim, Daisy Torres, 26, was rushed to Kings County Hospital with a non-life threatening gunshot wound to her chest. The condition of her unborn child was unclear.

Parents were arriving to pick up their children when the violent feud broke out at about 2:15 p.m. at the entrance of PS 384 on Cooper Street in Bushwick.

The shooter, Juan C. Torres, 62, approached his 26-year-old wife Daisy as she arrived at the school to pick up her child.

“He was shouting at her. He was screaming at her. This guy was crazy,” said Omar Carrasco, 15, who was walking by on his way home from high school.

“He was shouting about how he brought her from the Dominican Republic, he got her papers, he introduced her to people.”

A man who identified himself as Juan Torres’ son said Daisy Torres is carrying another man’s child.

As the two argued, Torres pulled a gun and fired at least twice, said witnesses.

Delean Diaz, 39, one of several bystanders who intervened to break up the couple’s fight, said he grabbed the gun “and put it to the side.” He and others at the scene held Torres until cops arrived.

One witness said the gunman expressed regret that he didn’t kill his much younger wife. “When I get out of jail, I’m going to get her,” the witness heard Torres say as he was loaded into a police car.

Torres’s son said Daisy Torres had been unfaithful to his father. “He thought she was in love with him, but it was a lie, and now she’s with some other man,” the son said.
