SI lifesaver dies from train smack

A man who last month was struck by a train while rescuing a drunken filmmaker who had stumbled onto Staten Island Railway tracks died from his injuries yesterday in an Island hospital.

Steven Santiago, 39, saved the life of Jonathan Parisen, 40, on Jan. 8 by pulling the independent filmmaker up to the platform.

Unfortunately, Santiago couldn’t get himself out of the way of the approaching train.

Later that day, Parisen was asked if he’d like to thank the hero but callously replied, “No, I have nothing to say.”

Yesterday, he was more considerate, tweeting: “I was just informed that Steven Santiago passed away today. My prayers go out to Steven and his family. God bless.”
