Stolen puppy’s tale dire

Time is running out for a sweet, 8-week-old, $1,400 Yorkie dognapped from a Brooklyn pet shop — he needs a special diet and multiple feedings to survive, the store’s worried owner said yesterday.

Without special care, he “is going to die . . . He could be dead already,’’ said David Dietz, owner of Puppy Paradise, on Flatbush Avenue in Marine Park.

The pooch was snatched from its cage by two people at 4 p.m. Feb. 16 while a manager and a staffer dealt with other customers.

Surveillance video captured one of the thieves stuffing the puppy under his coat.

“It looked like he was petting a dog in the upper cage,” Dietz said. “Then, right after they left, the salesperson came to the manager and told him, ‘We have a dog missing!’

“These are our babies, like adopted children,’’ he added. “After watching the tape, it didn’t look planned — but they did take the most expensive dog we had.

“They’ll try to sell him or give him to their girlfriend or mother or something stupid like that.”

Stealing a puppy you know nothing about is risky, Dietz said, since “a 7-week-old Yorkie can be old enough to be away from its mom but requires special feedings four times a day and vitamins.”

He said he just wants the little guy returned, no questions asked.

A shop employee identified the suspects in a photo lineup, but there had been no arrest as of last night.
