Oh, yeah, spit shined

Move over, rats: A top MTA official is eyeing your favorite dining space.

The floor of the Times Square subway station, which sees 182,000 pairs of feet every day, is clean enough to eat off, a top agency official said yesterday.

“I mean you could practically eat off the floor there,” Government Affairs Director Hilary Ring said after being questioned about the state of subway stations during a City Council Transportation Committee hearing.

“If there’s a gum wrapper on the floor, it sticks out,” insisted Ring.

Straphangers begged to differ.

“I’ve seen everything from urine to puke and dirt [at Times Square],” said Haley Boyd, 22, an Upper West Side actress.

“I could never imagine eating off the station floor.”

A Post reporter yesterday spotted crumpled napkins, sticky spots, unidentified liquids and discared MetroCards on a platform.
