Giants objectives in free agency

There are plenty of decisions for the Giants to consider in free agency. Here are three they should make:

1. Keep Tollefson: Do not forget about team chemistry, and if that means spending a little extra to keep DE Dave Tollefson, so be it. He is a valuable reserve and a perfect fit with all the high rollers on the defensive line.

2. Goff insurance: Jonathan Goff likely will be re-signed, but he is coming off reconstructive knee surgery, and who knows if Mark Herzlich or Greg Jones are ready for full-time duty at middle linebacker. Stephen Tulloch (Titans, Lions) is only 27 and worth a look.

3. Look into John Carlson: He’s a 27-year old tight end who missed the entire 2011 season for the Seahawks with a torn labrum. He’s a solid but not spectacular player who can catch the ball and, with Jake Ballard and Travis Beckum rehabbing from torn ACLs, someone has to be signed. At running back, with Brandon Jacobs gone, former Charger Mike Tolbert is worth a look.
