Whoa, ‘Mama’

(
)

Meet five thirtysomething guys who aren’t ashamed that Mommy still makes their beds.

They’re the “Mama’s Boys of The Bronx,” and they’re the stars of a new, eight-part series premiering next month on TLC, the cable channel that specializes in over-the-top family shows like “19 Kids and Counting” and “Little People, Big World.”

The five Italian-American boyhood friends live on fabled Arthur Avenue and proudly let their moms iron their underwear, cook their meals and fuss over them.

“They all live interesting lives and also happen to live at home with their moms or a parental figure,” says Alon Orstein, TLC’s East Coast VP of production and development.

“What you’ll see is a very authentic window into this Italian-American culture in The Bronx, in particular on Arthur Avenue.

“The stereotype might be that if you’re living at home with your parents you’re stuck there — these guys want to be there.”

Two of the regulars — Giovanni, 38 and Peter, 28 — live with their Aunt Gina and father Gus, respectively. All the other guys live with their mothers.

There’s Anthony, 36, an aspiring cartoonist who goes home to mom Patti every night; Frankie, 38, a construction worker who lives with his mom, Gina; Chip (real name: Anthony), a personal trainer who’s crazy about his mom, Camille; Giovanni, who wants be a fashion designer; and Peter, “a pretty boy” and aspiring actor.

None of the guys seems to have even a whiff of embarrassment about their domestic situations.

“They’re all characters in their own right,” Orstein says. “Some people might find themselves intrigued by Giovanni’s ideas about fashion and business, others might find Chip to be hilarious and others might like Anthony’s rapport with his mother.

“While they’re all from the same place they’re all very much individuals. They all bring something different to the table.”

“Mama’s Boys of The Bronx” premieres April 9 on TLC.
