Britney Spears inches closer to ‘X Factor’ judge’s chair: report

Britney Spears is inching closer to a big-dollar “X Factor” deal, in hopes of breathing new life into the Fox show and her own rebounding career, published reports said this morning.

Spears, through her fiance and agent Jason Trawick, could sign on the dotted line as early as next week, sources told The Hollywood Reporter.

The “Lucky” pop tart would fill a chair left open by pink-slipped judges Nicole Scherzinger and Paula Abdul. She would be seated alongside famed record producers L.A. Reid and Cowell.

“X Factor” producer Simon Cowell has offered Spears $10 million a year to come on board the Fox talent show, according to Deadline Hollywood.

“X Factor” drew a very respectable 12 million viewers a night during its recently completed rookie US season.

But former “American Idol” bad guy Cowell had boasted his British import “X Factor” would bring in a monster 20 million-a-night number, leading to this sophomore-season blood-letting.

“X Factor” dumped the Pussycat Dolls star Scherzinger, former “Idol” judge Abdul and host Steve Jones.
