16 injured in Queens funeral crash

A limousine carrying mourners during a funeral procession crashed into a mini market after being cut off by a mini-van — leaving 16 people injured and at least one in critical condition.

Witnesses on the scene said the mini-van was trying to pass through the funeral procession on Guy R. Brewer Boulevard when it hit a mourner’s SUV around 11:30 a.m.

The limo driver swerved out of the way to avoid the crash and instead drove into a wall adjacent to Mega Mini Market, 144-12 Guy R. Brewer Blvd, witnesses said.

At least one person was transported to Jamaica Hospital in critical condition; three others are being treated for serious injuries and 12 for minor ones, sources confirmed.
