Penthouse sale has Oprah’s Midas touch

Oprah’s name is still worth its weight in gold.

When the former daytime talk queen mentions a book, it becomes a best-seller. And when she puts her apartment on the market, it sells — in less than a week.

Oprah owns the stunning $7.9 million full-floor penthouse at 207 E. 57th St. While she never lived there, Oprah often visited the plush pad when it was occupied by her gal pal, Gayle King, who has since moved on.

Buyers started lining up almost as soon as Oprah’s agent put the fancy penthouse on the market Feb. 22.

Sources say that the buyer — a mystery British financier — made an offer that first week, and signed a contract the following week. The unit is expected to close next month.

“It didn’t take a lot to sell it,” an insider told The Post.

Listing broker Mark Schoenfeld, of The Corcoran Group, did not return calls.

Oprah bought the three-bedroom, 3.5-bath, 2,530-square-foot condo with a glamorous 768-square-foot terrace for $7.1 million in 2008 — in the name of her late dog, Sophie, a 13-year-old Cocker Spaniel who died of kidney failure.

The 26th-floor unit at Place 57 boasts a chef’s kitchen, a master suite with three walk-in closets and floor-to-ceiling windows with views from Central Park to the Hudson River.
