Felony charges dropped against Madonna stalker

An infatuated Madonna fan is free to cross over the borderline and resume waving love-protesting posters outside the singer’s door now that a Manhattan judge has dropped the felony weapons and resisting arrest case against him.

Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Bonnie Wittner this morning dismissed all charges against Madge-crazed Robert Linhart, citing prosecutors’ failure to meet speedy trial deadlines.

The love-lorn Linhart, a retired city firefighter, had been busted in September for allegedly packing an ice pick and an illegal gravity knife while waving posters outside her Upper West Side apartment.

Linhart had pleaded not guilty in October, and been bound by an order of protection barring him from going within a 10-block radius of her apartment.

Linhart had twice parked outside the singer’s apartment, where he proceeded to open cans of paint and create poster-board signs in her honor.

“Madonna, I need you,” read one. “Tell me yes or no,” read another. “If it’s yes, my dream will come true. If it’s no, I will go. XXX.”
