Ruth Madoff’s trashy new life

It may stink, but it beats life behind bars.

Ruth Madoff was spotted picking up the newspaper and hauling back the trash can outside her new Connecticut digs yesterday — looking a lot less glamorous than when she and Ponzi-schemer hubby Bernie lived it up in an Upper East Side penthouse.

That pad has since been seized by the feds, along with most of their assets, and Ruth has relocated to the Nutmeg State after a couple of years of exile in Boca Raton, Fla., where she lived with her sister, Joan Roman, who lost money in her hubby’s swindle.

Ruth recently began living in the Old Greenwich house owned by her surviving son, Andrew, and just glared when a Post lensman caught her doing chores.

“I’m going to let her have her peace,” said a woman across the street when asked about Ruth, whose husband is serving a 150-year sentence for stealing billions of dollars.
