If Nets All-Star Deron Williams knows what’s happening with Orlando superstar Dwight Howard, he wasn’t saying Tuesday night.
“If there was [a trade insight], I wouldn’t tell you guys,” Williams said, claiming “not since the All-Star break” had he spoken with Howard.
That was the prime subject directed at Williams last night when the point guard was honored, along with current Giants star Justin Tuck and former Giants great Michael Strahan, by Chabad Center for Jewish Discovery at Cipriani Wall Street for helping raise funds for a new multi-cultural Children’s Art Center, scheduled to open later this year.
As for how Thursday’s 3 p.m. trade deadline impacts his own future with the Nets, who are set for a Brooklyn move next season, Williams was equally tight-lipped.
“There is no way to tell. We will just see what happens and go from there,” he said.
The Nets had hoped to make a playoff push during the current stretch that sees them home for nine of 11 games. But a calf injury to Williams dented those plans and instead of gaining on the faltering Knicks, the Nets have stayed put, losing to Houston and Milwaukee without their star.
Williams provided no update on his status.
“I don’t know yet — day-to-day,” Williams said. “We will see tomorrow. It feels better every day. Every day is progress and more treatment so we will see how it goes and I will go from there,” Williams said.
