ATLANTA — Autism cases are increasing, largely due to wider screening and better diagnosis, health officials said yesterday.
The rate of autism and related disorders in the United States rose to about 1 in 88 children — from a prior estimate of 1 in 110, said the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Better recognition has fueled the increase, said officials who are also studying causes of the disease.
