Knicks forward Stoudemire gets injection in back

Amar’e Stoudemire received his epidural steroid injection yesterday for his bulging disk and did not travel with the Knicks to Atlanta.

Stoudemire’s reaction to the injection ultimately will determine whether the forward is healthy for the first round of the playoffs, which begin April 28, should the Knicks qualify.

The Knicks have listed a timetable of 2-to-4 weeks. With the epidural, Stoudemire has to undergo back-strengthening core exercises so he is less prone to reinjuring it.
