US Airways passenger attacks crew on Florida-bound flight

CHARLOTTE, NC — A passenger on board a US Airways flight from Charlotte, NC, to Fort Myers, Fla., was arrested after allegedly attacking crew members.

Witnesses on Flight 1697 claimed the women got up from her seat, spat in the crew members’ faces and knocked down a flight attendant Tuesday before being wrestled to the ground, WNCN reported.

The unnamed women earlier claimed she was afraid to fly, according to the news channel.

Police and Emergency Medical Service teams arrived at Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers, Fla., before the plane landed at around 6:00pm local time.

The passenger was given medical attention before being taken away from the airport screaming and crying.

The incident occurred hours after a JetBlue flight’s captain had to be tackled by passengers on a flight from New York to Las Vegas when he ran up and down a packed jet screaming about “bombs” and “al Qaeda” in a terrifying midair outburst.
