PSAL/Private baseball roundup: Poly Prep clinches fifth straight Ivy crown

The Ivy Prep League crown remains in Bay Ridge. Poly Prep clinched the regular-season title for the fifth straight year, topping Hackley, 8-1, Saturday afternoon.

Matt Coposio delivered four solid innings for the win and Joe Calabrese had two hits and scored twice for the Blue Devils, who improved to 20-1 overall and 12-0 in league.

No. 6 Cardozo 4, William Bryant 3: Brandon Vanwert had three hits and two RBIs, Jeinson Espinosa scored twice and Adrian Castano fanned eight in seven innings for Cardozo (14-0) in Queens A East on Friday. Christian Aubry doubled and drove in two runs for Bryant (10-2) in Queens A West.

John F. Kennedy 7, Taft 0: Erich Gonzalez had two hits and three RBIs, Hansel Rodriguez added three hits and notched an RBI, Pedro Taveras scored twice and Raviel DeJesus went the distance for his fifth win for Kennedy (10-3), which has won seven straight games in Bronx A West. Taft is now 7-6 in Bronx A East.

Renaissance 11, August Martin 4: Nick Vargas had two hits, scored three runs and drove in four, Jose Marte scored three times and Wagner Mendoza had two RBIs for Renaissance (7-8) in Queens B South. August Martin is 4-10.

John Bowne 9, Grove Cleveland 4: Ram Ayala drove in three runs, Adrian Blanco notched three hits and scored four runs and Robinson Hernandez doubled twice and scored two runs for Bowne (10-3) in Queens B North. Cleveland is 6-7.

Beacon 5, Brandeis 4: Giovanni Dingcong and Garrison Polius each drove in two runs and Juan Adorno had three hits and an RBI and also went innings for his fourth win for Beacon (10-4) in Manhattan A West. Brandeis is 4-10 in Manhattan A East.
