Pro-Israel Dems hit O

WASHINGTON — Senate Democrats are flocking to a resolution that would spurn President Obama’s call for a Middle East peace deal centered on Israel’s 1967 prewar borders.

The measure already has “very strong bipartisan support,” a Senate Democrat’s aide said.

“I’m generally supportive” of the resolution, said Sen. Ron Wyden (D-Ore.). “The bottom line is: You decide these matters through negotiations directly between the parties, not by imposing it from Washington.”

The bipartisan resolution describes the old borders as “indefensible,” repeating Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s assertion. The resolution also calls the borders “contrary to US national security interests.”
