Jane Lynch the top pick as Emmy host

LOS ANGELES — “Glee” star Jane Lynch is the top choice to host the 63rd Primetime Emmy Awards, sources told Deadline Tuesday.

Lynch, 50, plays the vitriolic cheerleading coach on the hit FOX show — a role that has garnered rave reviews and earned her an Emmy Award last year.

She would emcee the September award ceremony that will air on FOX, the same network as her TV show. FOX is owned by News Corp., the parent company of NewsCore.

The Board of the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, that sponsors the annual awards, is expected to decide who will serve as host at a Wednesday meeting.

“Late Night” comedian Jimmy Fallon hosted the ceremony last year.
