Queens man admits killing wife & son while they slept

A man who previously told police that his alter ego “Roberto” told him to kill his wife and son admitted in a Queens courtroom today that he committed the gruesome crime.

Otto Herrarte, 49, revealed to Queens Supreme Court Justice Gregory Lasak that after an argument with his wife, Edna, 55, he went into the kitchen, grabbed a butcher knife and while she was sleeping sliced her throat.

Herrarte plead guilty to manslaughter and agreed to be sent to prison for 35 years.

“I cut her,” Herrarte said as relatives began to weep while they listened to what happened inside the Corona apartment on November 20, 2009.

The mad man continued to tell the judge that he then proceeded into another room where his son, Daniel, 14 was sleeping and cut his throat.

“They died,” he told the judge.

Herrarte told authorities that “Roberto” cleaned up the mess while their oldest son, David, was at school at the time of the incident. He wrapped their bodies in duct tape, stuffed them into black garbage bags and put them in the closet.

Herrarte underwent psychiatric evaluations since the monstrous act and is currently on suicide watch.

Sentencing is scheduled for June 29.
