A 14-month-old girl tumbled out a window of her family’s fifth-floor Bronx apartment yesterday — but survived because she had earlier insisted on wearing her favorite pink winter coat on the hottest day of the year, her family said.

Xania Angel Samuels was rushed to Jacobi Hospital with head trauma after her terrifying plunge from the building on Cruger Avenue in Bronxwood at 11:30 a.m.

She was in critical condition, but doctors were hopeful she’d make it. Her mom, Tiffany Pexton, was convinced.

“I know she’ll get through it,” Pexton said.

Xania’s family said her coat is so heavily cushioned that it might have saved her life.

“It just may have broken her fall, because she is so little, just a baby,” said her father, who asked that his name not be printed.

Pexton said that there are no window guards in the apartment and that complaints to the landlord have been ignored.

“We’ve put speaker boxes in the windowsill just to block the kids from going there, but Xania is so active she must have opened the window herself,” she said.

Records list Jeffrey Schneider, of New Brunswick, NJ, as the building’s owner. He did not return a call seeking comment.

No one realized that Xania had fallen out the window for at least seven minutes, one rescuer said. Her father was giving the girl’s twin brother a bath, and her mom was at a Laundromat.

Neither parent faces charges, cops said.

Willis Sands, 57, an off-duty emergency medical technician, stumbled upon the baby “laying lifeless” on a bloody sidewalk while dropping off some laundry nearby.

He initially thought the infant was a “doll,” he said, but soon after “screamed for a mother and no one came.”

Sands said he turned the girl on her side so she could breathe and called 911.

Ambulances and a fire truck arrived as the dad stuck his head out of the window.

He screamed, “Oh, my God! Oh, my God!” the EMT added.

“That’s when I realized someone had fallen out a window,” he said.
