NYC daters are cheap

Material girls, Manhattan men aren’t in your material world.

New York guys are first-date cheapskates compared with bachelors in smaller cities like Seattle and Denver, according to a survey of 50,000 users of the dating site WhatsYourPrice.com.

Even Toronto and Dallas gents trumped Gotham guys in shelling out on the first night out.

“The cheapos will try to take a walk or go out for tea,” said Moira O’Malley, 21, a Manhattan fashionista who thinks coffee doesn’t cut it for getting in the mood.

“A little glitz and glam is appreciated.”

Big Apple boys ranked only 11th among first-daters in 45 other cities, many with much lower standards of living.

New York men spent $145 on the average first date, including dinner, entertainment, gifts and transportation.

Still, Gotham gals should take comfort that they don’t live in London, which ranked 41st. English chaps spent a paltry $98.

Several New York guys interviewed by The Post said $150 was about all they could stomach while out with a new lady.

“I had to get a girlfriend. I couldn’t afford to keep going on first dates,” said Ben Baker, 26, an energy analyst from Manhattan.

In the metro area, Jersey City gents had the deepest pockets, shelling out $193 for the first fling. Staten Island was the surprising runner-up at $181, followed by Manhattan at $166. The Bronx came in at the bottom at $112 for an average date.

New York guys are often crippled by high rent, mounds of college debt and rocky times on Wall Street, said Lisa Clampitt, president of VIP Life, a high-end matchmaking service. But $145 isn’t such a bad target number for a new rendezvous, she advised.

“Date within your means. Big spenders can set up unrealistic expectations,” she said.
