LONDON — Well-heeled bachelors around the world were rejoicing Sunday over reports that Pippa Middleton, the highly-coveted younger sister of the Duchess of Cambridge, was single again after splitting up with her banker boyfriend.
Middleton, 27, emerged as one of the world’s most eligible women following her appearance at the royal wedding — and was rumored to be on the verge of accepting a proposal from former-cricketer-turned-broker Alex Loudon.
But friends claimed that the relationship recently ended, saying, “It is common knowledge in their close circle of friends that Pippa and Alex have recently split up.”
Loudon, 30, could not be contacted to confirm the claim.
Both Middleton and the Duchess of Cambridge returned to wedding duties Saturday as guests of friend Sam Waley-Cohen, the amateur jockey and businessman credited with reuniting Catherine and Prince William after they temporarily split in 2007.
