‘Bin Laden’ ship to get WTC flag

A retired Brooklyn firefighter will present an American flag that flew at Ground Zero to the crew of USS Carl Vinson, the aircraft carrier from which the corpse of Osama bin Laden was dispatched to a watery grave.

Cook, 52, a former member of Ladder Co. 123 in Crown Heights, is looking forward to offering the hallowed memento to honor the 5,500 men and women who serve aboard the vessel, where his son, Christopher, 25, is a petty officer second class.

The elder Cook and his wife, Debra, of Deer Park, LI, are flying from New York today to be on hand for a long-awaited homecoming with their son, a boatswain’s mate, when the Vinson pulls into San Diego on Wednesday.

Cook, who toiled on the pile at Ground Zero, will be carrying the 5-by-9-foot flag, which will serve as a Flag Day gift from the FDNY.
