Cops kill gunman in Brooklyn

He swore they wouldn’t “take him alive” — and they didn’t.

Cops shot and killed a gunman in Brooklyn tonight when he pointed an empty pistol at them, authorities said.

The man, Carl Lastorino, 45, had been armed with two loaded pistols when police say he burst into Peter’s Tire and Rim Shop in East New York just before 5 p.m. and screamed, “Peter, this is for you.” He then started shooting, emptying the first revolver.

Police say he struck his 49-year-old victim in the right shoulder and hand.

Fleeing the scene, the shooter attempted to get into a livery cab on Linden Boulevard and Williams Avenue and tossed one of the guns into the back seat of the car.

Seconds later, cops arrived and ordered him to drop his other weapon.

Pointing the empty gun at them Lastorino screamed, “You’re not going to take me alive!”

The cops, a sergeant and a rookie, each fired once. Lastorino was pronounced dead at Brookdale hospital.

His victim, who has prior arrests for armed bank robbery and drug possession, was listed in stable condition at Brookdale as well.
