THE SOCIAL NETWORK 2010

uEven though this film did not sweep the Oscars as some expected, this story of Harvard student and techno wiz kid, Mark Zuckerberg (Jesse Eisenberg, right) is an intensely entertaining tale of the nerd who invented social networking in his dorm room and then went on to become the youngest billionaire in history. Eisenberg is as brilliant an actor as Zuckerberg is a programming genius. With Justin Timberlake.

APOCALYPTO 2006

Friday, 7 p.m., IFC

uFrom the weird, twisted and often brilliant mind of Oscar-winning director Mel Gibson comes this tale about the end of the Mayan civilization. It’s told as a heart-thumping 16th century action-adventure story as Spain was conquering Mexico and Central America. A young warrior, Jaguar Paw (Rudy Youngblood), flees to avoid being a human sacrifice while trying to save the very culture that would destroy him.
