B’klyn mom ordered to pay back $82G she stole from PTA — with interest

The Brooklyn mom who embezzled $82,000 from the PTA at her daughter’s school will have to pay interest and the school’s expenses in order to get her jail-free plea deal, a judge said today.

Providence Hogan has agreed to make restitution to the PTA at PS 29 in Cobble Hill to avoid going to prison for swiping the money for fertility treatments, her lawyer Stephen Flamhaft.

She will be required to put up $40,000 immediately and pay off the rest within none months, Flamhaft said.

But Brooklyn Supreme Court Justice Suzanne Mondo ordered the Brooklyn DA’s office to compute the interest and costs to the PTA before she would accept the plea.

“The school needs to be made whole, entirely whole in this matter and if not, we need to talk about jail,” Mondo said.

About 10 parents from the school, which Hogan’s daughter still attends, sat in court to watch the proceedings.

Natalie Giles, whose daughter just graduated PS 29, said the deal of probation and restitution seemed appropriate.

“I don’t think jail time would serve any purpose,” Giles said.
