KENNER, La. — A woman found shot dead along with her three children in Louisiana Tuesday was suspected of killing the children then taking her own life, The Times-Picayune reported.
Police said the shooting occurred at around 5:00pm local time at a home in Kenner, about 14 miles west of New Orleans.
The victims were an adult woman, identified by police as Nadia Braxton, 29, and three children — Kayla Peters, 12, Nayah Peters, 18 months, and Nyla Peters, six months.
The woman’s partner discovered the victims in an upstairs room when he came home from work. A semi-automatic pistol was lying at the foot of the bed, Kenner Police Chief Steve Caraway said.
He said motive for the shootings was not known, but preliminary indications were that the woman killed the children, then herself.
The New Orleans Times-Picayune reported the house had been seized for delinquent payments on the mortgage.
