Adele to resume US tour after recovering from laryngitis

LONDON — British soul singer Adele said Tuesday she is ready to resume touring in North America after a bout of laryngitis forced her to cancel several performances earlier this summer.

“It’s basically a hole in your vocal cord but I sang through it so that’s why it popped,” she told BBC radio. The condition forced her to bow out of a slew of performances in the US and Canada.

“I’m better now — it’s fine, I got the all-clear,” she added.

The “Rolling in the Deep” songstress told fans in early June she was “really frustrated” about having to cut short her tour due to the fragile state of her voice.

“I was hoping with a week’s rest I’d be better to sing again straight away. However there is absolutely nothing I can do but take the doctor’s advice and rest some more. I’m so sorry,” she said in a statement.

Now that she is on the mend, the 23-year-old thanked fans for their patience and announced 20 new performances in North America scheduled for August and October.
