Terrence Samuel Diary No. 4: Loving life in Las Vegas

Over the next month, The Post will bring you into the world of South Shore/New Heights point guard Terrence Samuel as he travels from Indiana to Reading, Pa., to King of Prussia, Pa., Las Vegas and back to Reading during the live recruiting period. This is entry No. 4 of 5, as told to The Post’s Zach Braziller, that will appear over the next four weeks. The final one is slated for August 1.

I got back from Las Vegas this morning. It was a good experience. We were in the Adidas Super 64. We lost in the quarterfinals. We should’ve went further. We lost to a team we weren’t supposed to lose to, but losing brings us together as a team and showed us what we need to work on.

Our first game, Roy Williams of North Carolina was there and so was Mike Krzyzewski of Duke. It was packed with coaches and we lost by one to Ohio Basketball Club. We landed in Vegas last Thursday morning at like 1 a.m. It was difficult. We had an 8 a.m. game that day and by the time we got to the hotel it was 3:30 a.m. It was a difficult game and we lost by one.

VCU, Iowa State, Temple, Xavier and Pittsburgh were at a lot of our games. I keep that in mind for sure. It means they’re taking their time to come watch me. It shows I’m their top priority. It helps me when it comes time to make a decision.

I loved the lights there. When it gets dark, everything is great. We stayed at The Orleans. It was nice. We went to the arcade in the hotel, we went bowling and we went on The Strip a couple of times and took a lot of pictures. I’m pretty good at bowling, I had a 150. I was thinking of joining the bowling team in high school, but it’s too late.

There were a lot of teams staying in the same hotel. You meet a lot of new people and it’s in Las Vegas, one of the best places to be. It’s just great to be in that atmosphere. The time difference is kind of hard to get used to. I got up 2 p.m. today.

I’m not tired at all, I was built for this and I’m preparing for the rest of the live period. I’m going to Hoop Group Elite Camp tomorrow in Pennsylvania. I’m happy with how I’m playing. I got a lot of new schools interested, offering me scholarships. Penn State offered. Coach Pat Chambers called and offered me.

I just want to play my game and win whatever games I’m in the rest of the live period. I really enjoyed this month. We went all over the country and I got more schools.
