Motorcyclist thrown off his bike after accident on West Side Highway: witness

A motorcyclist was sent airborne today after he rear-ended a car on the West Side Highway with horrified families gathered at a nearby picnic area, cops and witnesses said.

The unidentified biker collided with a Honda Civic around 5:10 p.m. while headed north near West 95th Street and hurtled towards the pavement.

“We heard it when the motorcyclist hit the car and we saw the guy flying through the air,” said Hermyn Matos, who was barbecuing nearby with his family, including his 3-year-old son.

His wife, Ana Matos, said: “He was bleeding from the head. He was unconscious. Probably the helmet didn’t do any good at that point.”

The biker was rushed to St. Luke’s Hospital in critical condition with head trauma.

Cops said no charges were expected to be filed.
