Showdown at Saratoga

In this summer’s Saratoga Showdown, the Post’s pony pickers John DaSilva, Ed Fountaine and Vic Cangialosi take on Paul Lo Duca, former All-Star catcher for the Mets, now a handicapping analyst for the horseracing network TVG. Each starts with a bankroll of $2,000 for the meet with a maximum bet of $50 a day.

JOHN DaSILVA

TODAY’S PLAYS: In Race 3, play $10 win on Spina and then a $5 exacta box of Spina with Winners Get Even, Right to Rule, Malibu Artiste and Sneaky Girl. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: Seeking the Title faded badly to be last and was vanned off. After scratches, we lost $30 for the day.

VIC CANGIALOSI

TODAY’S PLAYS: Start with a pair of $10 doubles using Stormandaprayer in the second with Malibu Artiste and Spina in the third. Then $30 to win on Isn’t She Grand in the eighth. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: Heavily favored J Cs Pride ($2.60) won like a champion. Winter Memories won the Lake George, but City Strut faded and Power Blast ran out of real estate. Lost $37.

BANKROLL: $1,969

ED FOUNTAINE

TODAY’S PLAYS: In the seventh race, the Quick Call, $10 win, $10 place on Higher Court; $10 daily doubles, Higher Court with Isn’t She Grand, Full of Gut and Taconic Victory in the eighth. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: In the first race, A Perfect Squeeze ($16 double with Protesting) set the pace and tired at 9-1; too bad, because Protesting won. In the fifth, State of Play ($10 win) won paying $9, but we couldn’t catch the exacta; won $7 after scratches.

BANKROLL: $1,889.50

PAUL LO DUCA

TODAY’S PLAYS: In Race 6 (turf or dirt), I think Dallaglio will love the lawn and drop in class. If it rains his dirt form fits — 10-1 morning line so let’s play $25 win, place. Total bet: $50.

YESTERDAY’S RESULTS: In Race 4, Vintage Heirloom just fell short at 9-2. Lost $50.

BANKROLL: $1,914
