Sheen funeral on ‘Men’

Chuck Lorre is getting the final laugh.

The ninth-season premiere of CBS’s hit comedy “Two and a Half Men” will kill two birds with one stone — it’ll introduce the new character played by Ashton Kutcher and nail the lid on the coffin for Charlie Harper, the character played by Charlie Sheen.

Sheen’s absence from the series — caused by his real-life war of words with series creator Lorre and his subsequent firing — will be explained by Charlie’s death.

The on-screen funeral, which will be attended by his former girlfriends, will play a part in the Sept. 19 episode, according to industry gossip site deadline.com.

Charlie’s Malibu house, where most of the series is set, is also getting screen time, since it’s being put on the market. Among the potential buyers stopping by for a tour of the beachfront digs will be guest appearances by celebs and characters from Lorre’s other shows — as well as Kutcher’s character.

The house-sale storyline is expected to continue into the second episode.

“We are not commenting on speculation,” said a spokesperson for Warner Bros. TV, which produces the show.

Taping on the ninth season of “Men,” in front of a live studio audience, begins Friday.
