Bizman is singing song of the South

Lynn Mueller was once a successful business consultant in New York, running his Decision Strategies Group out of Albany. He’s still successful — but in South Carolina.

It came down to dollars and sense.

“We had started coming down here for holiday vacations,” Mueller (left) said from his new home in Georgetown, SC. “It led me to look into how much it cost to be a New Yorker vs. how much it cost here. It was a pretty startling discovery. For every dollar I made there I could make 65 cents here” and break even economically.

Mueller, who is 70 and still working, moved his consulting business along with his home.

And he said he hasn’t regretted the move, adding, “Government [in South Carolina] works — we still have traffic lights, police and roads. The school system is no better or worse than anything we had in New York. And people here are really nice.”
