What debt crisis? it’s party time for bam

The Issue: The president’s 50th birthday celebration, as the nation deals with its debt woes.

President Obama must be taking violin lessons from Nero (“Party Time for Prez,” Aug. 4).

His birthday celebration in Chicago was excessive, considering the debacle the country has endured during the debt crisis.

Now the taxpayers are expected to pay for his bus tour to explain himself and ask for four more years.

Why is our president playing golf, partying and campaigning while our country is in a meltdown?

He threw a big birthday bash at $35,000 a head while so many people are out of work or, if they are lucky enough to have a job, make less than $35,000 per year.

With unemployment at 9.1 percent; home foreclosures, credit-card defaults and gas prices on the rise, and two underfunded wars going on, what better time to throw a $35,800-per-person party?

As this great country sinks, I’m sure the band will play on.

Obama has held numerous fundraising events to build a re-election campaign kitty with a goal of $1 billion.

“Do as I say, not as I do” applies to Obama and the Democrats.

They bash Wall Street with one hand, but the other hand is palms-up, looking for big bucks.

What was that tired refrain about the Democratic Party’s being the friend of the little people and those greedy old Republicans’ being the party of big-buck fat cats?

Obama went back to Chicago and did what he does best: campaign and raise tons of money.

If he were only half as good at running the country, we wouldn’t be in this mess.

When the Republican Party finally has its nominee, watch the president turn on the charm and convince the gullible American people that he deserves another four years.
