For an organization that professes to adore offensive coordinator Brian Schottenheimer, the Jets have a funny way of showing it sometimes.
Since Schottenheimer’s play-calling meltdown in the AFC Championship nearly eight months ago, the Jets brought in a veteran consultant, Tom Moore, to “advise” him and cut ties with the player Schottenheimer freely admits was his all-time favorite, Jerricho Cotchery.
Neither move could be considered a ringing endorsement of the oft-criticized Eric Mangini holdover, but Schottenheimer said he’s taking it all in stride.
“It’s been great,” the 37-year-old strategist said yesterday when asked about his relationship with Moore and his offseason in general.
