Mets’ Reyes may need rehab stint

Jose Reyes will be in Philadelphia with the Mets tomorrow, but he doesn’t know when he’s going to return to the field — or where it will be.

The shortstop said yesterday that he might need some rehab games before coming back from his most recent left hamstring strain.

“We haven’t discussed that yet, but I think I’m gonna play rehab games,” Reyes said before the Mets’ 11-9 loss to the Brewers yesterday at Citi Field.

BOX SCORE

He has been out since leaving a game on Aug. 7 with a stiff hamstring — the second time in a month he suffered a similar injury.

Reyes ran on the field for the first time since the injury yesterday and depending how he feels today, will run the bases both today and tomorrow, ratcheting up the intensity each day.

“[Today] is not gonna be a lot,” Reyes said. “I’ll just get used to the bases and see what happens. I’m not gonna go full speed because I ran a lot today. Everything was very positive. If I run the bases with no problem, we’ll decide what to do after that playing-wise.”

Yesterday was a good step, according to Terry Collins, who hadn’t seen Reyes run since the injury.

“He looked terrific,” Collins said.

Reyes plans on continuing his baseball activity in Philadelphia.
