Three Jets to watch in preseason game vs. Bengals

Three weeks from tonight, the Jets will face the Cowboys in their regular season-opener. It’s time to start evaluating exactly what the Jets have and who can contribute this year. Here are three Jets to keep an eye on tonight against the Bengals:

WR, PLAXICO BURRESS

The Jets’ big free-agent signing takes the field for the first time in nearly three years. The starters are expected to play into the second quarter, so Burress and quarterback Mark Sanchez should have some time to connect. It will be interesting to see if Burress shows any signs of rust.

ILB, JOSH MAUGA

Bart Scott is sidelined by a left leg injury, giving the second-year linebacker a chance to see some major playing time. Mauga came in for Scott last week in Houston and registered a tackle for a loss and a sack in his first two plays.

RB, BILAL POWELL

The fourth-round draft pick out of Louisville has had a quiet training camp, but showed some flashes last week in Houston. Shonn Greene is out with a skin infection on his right foot, which will give Powell an increased number of carries tonight.
