Class act-ors at NYU

Call it Celeb U.

When classes start at NYU next week, actor James Franco — who hosted the Oscars last year, when he was also nominated for Best Actor for “127 Hours” — will be teaching a directing course at the Tisch School for the Arts, in which students will adapt a Louise Gluck poem into a film.

“By the end of the class, [they will] make a feature film that we will distribute,” Franco told Fox411.

“Those classes fill up quickly,” said NYU sophomore Julie DeVito. “Last year, my suitemate had [Tony Award-winning actress] Sutton Foster. It’s neat, because they know it’s an expert in the field.”

Students who fork over $46,000 a year to attend the Greenwich Village university now expect to get star power for their dollar.

Director Spike Lee, who serves as artistic director of NYU’s graduate film program, will teach “Directing Strategies.”
