Ways to have fun in the windy city

How can you have a fun time this weekend despite the storm? The answer is blowin’ in the wind.

You might visit the Lobster Box, a waterfront restaurant on City Island where you can watch the waves pound the shore while sipping a stiff drink.

“We’re going to create a new drink, an ‘Irene Special,’ ” said manager John Lambos. “It’s gonna be strong, like a hurricane. My customers won’t have any problem getting wet.”

Maureen Lynch, who manages Rockaway Park’s Wharf Restaurant on Jamaica Bay, will also be open.

“Why would I close the place?” she asked. “We’ll be packed.

“Whenever there’s a storm, this place gets very crowded. People gravitate here.”

On the ocean side of the peninsula, you can watch daredevils try to surf. One told The Post he might try his luck on Saturday before the biggest waves hit.

Observation decks at the Empire State Building and at the Top of the Rock at 30 Rockefeller Plaza will be open for people who want to get even closer to the storm.
