Bam’s backing sags in NJ

WASHINGTON — Even in the Democratic stronghold of New Jersey, voters have soured on President Obama.

Among registered voters there, 47 percent say he does not deserve a second term while just 43 percent say he does, a Rutgers poll revealed yesterday.

“The continuing economic climate, coupled with voter frustration at Washington, has created feelings of discontent,” said Rutgers poll director David Redlawsk.

Obama’s decline in the Garden State since February, when 48 percent favored his re-election, has been driven mostly by independent voters.

“Most independents want at least some tax increases on the rich to help fix the deficit, and many may feel Obama has failed to follow through on his own demands for increased revenues,” Redlawsk said.
