Poor pol is Towns and out

Hopefully, she’s paying her campaign workers!

Deidra Towns, a state Assembly candidate and daughter of a longtime congressman, let her mortgage lapse for so long that her home went into foreclosure, The Post has learned.

Towns — whose father is Rep. Ed Towns (D-Brooklyn) — also failed to pay her taxes three times between 2001 and 2009 but paid up when she was dragged to court, records show. She ended up paying a total of $12,488 in back taxes for 2002, 2007 and 2009.

She defaulted on her mortgage in September 2007 and as of February, Bank of America was continuing to pursue foreclosure on her Brooklyn home. Records show she owes at least $2,537.

Her campaign spokesman, Andrew Moesel, used her troubles to paint her as a candidate others can relate to:

“Deidra Towns, like so many single mothers, has been the victim of a difficult divorce and the financial crisis.”
