High-‘tail’ing it out of SI

The city has transferred animals from flood-prone Staten Island shelters to safer ones in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Residents lent a hand by adopting some. Leslie Wallace, of Great Kills, added four cats and a dog to her 12 dogs and five parrots, and planned to stay home with them all during the storm.

“I’d never leave my animals,” she said.
