Voters in sections of Queens and Brooklyn will pass judgment today on President Obama — via a key election for ex-Rep. Anthony Weiner’s House seat.
The race — in New York’s 9th Congressional District — pits a non-politician businessman, Bob Turner, against a career pol and Democratic hack tapped by party bosses, Assemblyman David Weprin.
The Post has endorsed Turner.
With the help of ex-Mayor Ed Koch and Assemblyman Dov Hikind, Turner has made the race a referendum on the president. Koch and Hikind hope a strong showing by Turner in this traditionally Democratic district would represent an angry rebuke regarding Obama’s views toward Israel.
Voters can also register their justifiable anger over Obama & Co.’s failure to fix the economy, despite trillion-dollar deficits.
Turner is a moderate businessman who knows the economy from personal experience; he seeks lower taxes and more rational regulation, and his election would send a national message.
Turner’s clearly the right choice.
Polls are open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m.
