Ivy Prep League boys soccer roundup: Dalton blanks Riverdale, off to quick start

Max Ezrin and Alex Moore each scored twice as Dalton kicked off the Ivy Prep League season with an impressive 5-0 victory over Riverdale on Randall’s Island Wednesday afternoon. Christian Rodriguez also scored and Ari Tessitore and Daniel Postal each made a save as the two combined on the clean sheet for the Tigers (2-0-0, 1-0-0). Riverdale is 1-1-0, 0-1-0.

We are playing some great soccer right now,” Dalton coach L.M. Echegaray said. “We are taking nothing for granted as it’s early, but we are playing our style of soccer. We did a lot of conditioning in preseason and it’s showing. But we have to keep going. Nothing is being underestimated. No team is easy to play against in this league. “

Hackley 3, Poly Prep 2: Andrew Doar and Nick Safian scored once apiece in defeat for Poly Prep, which led 2-0 but was unable to hold its advantage. The Blue Devils are 0-1-0 in the Ivy Prep League while Hackley, the defending champ, is 1-0-0.

“It was tough,” Poly Prep coach Gerry Stone said. “Hackley is pretty good, they never quit and we got burned.”

Dalton 8, Friends Seminary 0: Max Ezrin and Alex Moore each scored twice, Henry Martin, Jeff Stern and Erik Szulansky also notched one goal apiece and Daniel Postal and Ari Tessitore combined on the shutout for Dalton on Monday in non-league.

Horace Mann 3, Trinity 1: Bernie Rawlins tallied twice and Andrew Silberstein added another goal for Horace Mann, which rallied from an early deficit, in its Ivy Prep League opener. The Lions are 2-0-0, 1-0-0 in league and TriAnity is 0-1-0.

Collegiate 3, Fieldston 0: Keeper Will Spencer had the clean sheet as the defending NYSAISAA champions started the Ivy Prep League schedule with a win. The Dutchmen (1-0-0) meet Horace Mann on Friday, while Fieldston is 0-1-0.

Riverdale 3, Columbia Prep 2: Nat Gibbs scored twice and Kevin Gilligan had the game-winner with a blast into the upper right corner for Fieldston in non-league on Monday.
