Police name two suspects in shooting of Harlem hoops star

Cops today named two suspects in the chilling slaying of beloved Harlem high-school hoops star Tayshana “Chicken” Murphy.

Robert Cartagena, reported to be in his 20s, and Tyshawn Brockington, 21, are wanted for killing Murphy, who was gunned down early Sunday.

Surveillance footage places both men at the scene, said Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.

“They are seen in the video with guns in their waistbands,” Kelly said.

A third suspect, Terique Collins, 24, was arrested Monday night at 1420 Amsterdam Ave.

Collins is believed to have provided a gun to Cartagena and Brockington, said police officials.

Murphy, who lived in the Grant Houses projects, was killed because she got mixed up in a dispute between violent thugs from the Manahttanville projects, a few blocks north on Broadway, say cops.

Family and friends say Murphy, a senior at Murry Bergtraum HS, was a gifted athlete determined to land a college scholarship.

But she’d been caught up in trouble before — she had a record of two arrests that were sealed, and was busted in July for third-degree assault.
