Sexy brush with the law OK: Ray

Don’t give cops a bum rap for getting down and dirty at this year’s West Indian Parade, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said yesterday.

The officers’ raunchy bumping and grinding with scantily-clad dancers at the Sept. 5 parade was no big deal, Kelly said.

“I would prefer that it not have happened. But I don’t want to make too much of it,” Kelly said of the incident, which was caught on video.

Footage of cops sexily grinding their crotches with the dancers might even be “a great advertisement for New York,” said Mayor Bloomberg.

Elsewhere in the world, people are reluctant to even talk with cops, let alone be photographed with them, said the mayor.

“Quite the contrary here,” said Bloomberg. Visitors “think police officers are what’s going to keep them safe and help them.”

Four officers have been identified and will be questioned by the Chief of Department about the conduct, sources said.

“You know, these young women approached the officers. They didn’t go out of their way to be approached like this,” he said.
