Feast on this!

Little Italy’s 85th annual Feast of San Gennaro is under way — and if you’re looking to gorge on something beyond the usual fried zeppole, you’re in luck. Running through Sept. 25, this year’s festival showcases an exciting array of old-world specialties with new-world spins — reflecting Mulberry Street’s evolving status as a culinary destination. Start at Prince Street outside Torrisi Italian Specialties, where you’ll find all manner of inventive fare — including grilled calamari (from Frankies Spuntino), pork tonnato sandwiches (The John Dory), homemade Cheez-Its (Gabe Stulman’s Little Wisco restaurant group) and “The Byggybeef,” a short-rib sandwich from Dewey and Wylie Dufresne (wd-50). Then eat your way south from there.
