‘Jewish al-Jazeera’ set to launch soon

‘The Jewish al-Jazeera,” is set to launch.

Jewish News One, a k a “JN1,” a 24-hour satellite news channel focused on all things Jewish, will begin airing today in Europe — and is slated to premiere in the US.

“In the coming months we expect the channel to be available in the US,” JN1’s Brussels-based coordinator, Alexander Zanzer, told The Post via e-mail. “We are in the process of making agreements with US [satellite] operators.”

JN1 seems to be topically akin to al-Jazeera, the cable network catering to the Arab-speaking world.

Based in Brussels, Tel Aviv, New York and Kiev, JN1 was founded by billionaire Ukrainian businessman Igor Kolomoisky and fellow Ukrainian Vadim Rabinovich.

They’ve pumped $5 million into the satellite startup, according to ynetnews.com. JN1 will air primarily in English, but will eventually be offered in eight other languages.

“The channel would like to give a broad view on world events through Jewish glasses,” Zanzer said.
